ABOUT

Music, for me, is something that I can’t live without. Though I am not meant to be on stage performing, I need to be around it in some way. Being creative. My ears ringing with the anticipation of the next moment. Capturing it and preserving it. All of which has lead me to where I am today.

I started photographing bands when I graduated from college and have been doing it – and loving it – ever since.

I am located in Columbus, Ohio and am available for travel, tour and local work. I am as comfortable backstage as I am in front of the stage, mindful of boundaries and knowing how to get the shot without being too intrusive, all the while being discreet.

I’ve photographed musicians in multiple situations from portrait to live, embedded in full day all access coverage and tour work. I also work with festivals, such as Bunbury Music Festival and Riot Fest creating images and video for social media and internal use. Some past clients include Decibel Magazine, XXL , Guitar World and Revolver along with having my work appear in Spin, Total Guitar, Metal Hammer and Rocksound via my representatives at Retna UK.

Promowest

I have had the pleasure of working with Chris for over ten years now in my capacity as Marketing Director for PromoWest Productions and AEG Presents. I could not ask for a more talented, creative, and professional photographer for my events. Chris is someone I now consider as part of my team. His eye for photography and his attention to detail is unmatched and his ability to pivot and roll with the punches is invaluable and not something you find easily. I look forward to working with Chris for many years to come and cannot recommend him highly enough.

A photo. We all do it. I really like a photo that isn’t planned. A photo that is an element of what you have to work with. Shooting with Chris was just that – whatever was around the club that night was what we had to work with. Inspired by your surroundings – rather than contrived… That’s what I liked best about Chris – finding the beauty in the things most don’t notice….

Chris Casella is a talented and dedicated photographer who is always a pleasure to work with. In my experience, Chris has always gone above and beyond, offering advice and guidance in addition to providing exceptional photo coverage of music festivals and events.  Chris’ assistance was instrumental when I was putting together the talent escort team for the first annual Roast On The Range event in Columbus in 2014.

Christopher Andrew

For years I have hired and worked with Chris Casella as the centerpiece of our official Riot Fest photo team. Casella is our performance action shooter, we each take a different role and compliment each-other perfectly. Casella’s role is to simply take the best band performance shots of anyone out there. His uncanny ability to capture both action and emotion from performer after performer is an incredible feat. He finds the moment, the vibe, the unfathomable intersection of craft and patient tenacity that is at the heart of professional live event photography. His portrait work has grit and edge, his talent for B&W and color is equal, but his greatest talent is one of calm masterful presence and even keeled good humor. He does the job, and smiles through the ups and downs. He delivers, and the images truly are stunning, singular, profound, belying both a passion for music, for adventure, for humanity, and a technical prowess that few other photographers can claim.
